Things I Liked in 2025

Good day.

Here are some things I liked in 2025.

TV: The Rehearsal (HBO)

A film still from docu-series The Rehearsal. In frame, Nathan Fielder is in frame as a pilot with his co-pilot beside him in a plane's cockpit.
John P. Johnson / HBO

There’s something captivating about watching someone venture to the ends of the earth and beyond to fulfill a passion.

The finale attempted one of the most impressive feats ever put on television.

Editor’s dialogue: “You would put something involving Nathan Fielder and Evanescence.”

Books: Erasure by Percival Everett

Erasure: A Novel

A perfect showcase of the great conflict within artistic genius.

We must accept the masses cannot access certain levels of high-mindedness.

As an artist, do you “dumb down” your complicated work to reach a wider audience or do you carry on with high-brow complexity for a small, niche audience?

Music: Pop Queens

I got three for you. Mind you, I am a 36-year-old male.

Lady Gaga – MAYHEM

Pop music should do two things: Make you move and make you feel.

Lights – A6

There’s a shelf life for trauma, but nostalgia is eternal.

Huntr/x – KPOP Demon Hunters

This movie had a 10/10 villain song about the ending the world and followed it up with a 10/10 hero song about saving the world. Never been done in all of cinema.

Style: Whatever I Like

My wife texted me an ad for Dragon Ball Z Crocs.

“Y’all are disrupting my algo[rithm], I swear,” she wrote.

“Just bought my first pair of Crocs,” I wrote back.

“Shut up.”

Life is short. Find what brings you joy.
